Questions
Short app, short answers.
If something here is wrong or missing, write to us and we will fix the page rather than send you a form letter.
Pairing
No. An account holds exactly one pairing, and that is the whole shape of the product. If you want to pair with someone else, you disconnect first.
One of you taps Generate and gets a six-character code, like K3M-9QX. Read it out, text it, whatever suits. The other person types it in. Codes expire, so a leaked one stops working.
Yes, with a fresh code. Nothing from the old pairing comes back with you, because the notes are already gone.
No. iPhone to Android works exactly as well as iPhone to iPhone. The widget looks like it belongs on whichever phone it is on.
Notes
Because the widget is small, and because a limit is the one thing that reliably stops a note turning into a conversation. Emoji and accented letters count as one character each, the same way you would count them.
No. There are no read receipts, no delivery ticks and no way to tell whether anyone has looked at their home screen. That is deliberate: a note you owe a reply to is a message, and this is not a messenger.
The new one takes its place. There is only ever one note on the widget, so there is never a backlog. It is still in the history if you want to look.
Yes. Nine faces and nine inks, all picked in the composer before you send, with three of each on the free plan and all of them on Us Together. The note is drawn in that face and that colour on their phone too, on the widget and in the history, not just on yours.
A small symbol you put beside the name of the person you write to. Heart, moon, flower, sparkle, infinity, a bicep or sunglasses, added in Settings and changed as often as you like. It shows up on your widget and in your message box, before their name, and only you ever see it.
No. Us only sends outward, to the one person you are paired with.
Pictures
Yes. Take one there and then, or pick a single picture out of your library. Us never gets the library itself, only the one you chose. It is resized and sealed on your phone before it goes anywhere.
Drawing something, when a photo is not the thing. There is a pen, an eraser, a line, a rectangle and an ellipse, every colour with its own opacity, a nib from a hairline to a thick marker, and undo mark by mark.
It becomes the widget. Edge to edge, cropped to fill it, with only what you wrote laid over the bottom of it. No sender row, and no timestamp sitting in the middle of the picture.
No. A note carries one picture. Remove the one you attached and the other way becomes available again.
Three photos and three drawings, in total rather than per month. After that, photos and drawings are part of Us Together, the ₹99 plan. Notes stay free and unlimited either way.
The current one. The next picture replaces the one before it, and everything goes when either of you disconnects.
Encryption
No. A note is encrypted on your phone and reaches our server as a sealed envelope. The key is worked out on both of your phones from your private key and their public one, it is never sent to us, and we hold nothing that opens what we store.
Yes, with the same key as the note that names them. A picture is uploaded sealed, fetched sealed, and opened on the phone it was sent to.
That a note went from one of you to the other, when, which face and ink it was written in, and whether a picture attached to it is a photo or a drawing. Those ride beside the envelope, because a surface that cannot open a note still has to draw it. The words never do.
It carries no text at all. A push is a knock; your phone then fetches the note itself and opens it with the key only it has. Nothing you write passes through Apple's or Google's push service.
The private key lives in the Keychain or the Keystore and never leaves the device, which also means nobody can restore it for you, not us and not a fresh install. Notes sealed for a key your phone no longer has cannot be opened again. We would rather say that plainly than imply a backup we do not have.
Leaving
Settings, then Disconnect, then one confirmation. Either of you can do it at any time, and it does not need the other's agreement.
The pairing and the shared history, on both phones at once. Your account stays, along with your name and your mark, and the app puts you back on the Connect screen ready for a new code.
No notification is sent. Their phone finds out the next time it refreshes, and lands on Connect with the history already gone.
No. You can pair again with a fresh code, but nothing from before comes back, because it was deleted rather than hidden.
It deletes the account itself: your sessions, your devices and the shared history, everywhere, and it disconnects the person you were paired with. It asks twice, because there is no sign-in and no backup, so there is no way back into an account once it is gone.
Disconnect if you want the pairing to end and the app to stay. Delete if you want to be gone from it altogether. Deleting disconnects you on its way out, so there is no need to do both.
Paying
₹99 every three months, for the pair, and that is the only paid thing there is. There is no trial. The free plan does not expire, so there is nothing to fall off.
The counts, and nothing else. Photos past the first three, drawings past the first three, faces and inks past the first three of each, and history older than the last seven days. The notes themselves, the mark and writing every day are free and stay that way.
Either of you. One subscription covers the pair, and the other person does not have to do anything or even know about it.
No. The three months you have paid for are not refundable, and we would rather say so here than in the small print. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves the plan running until the period you paid for ends.
In your phone's own subscription settings, Apple's or Google's, not in Us. We never see the payment or the card, which is also why a refund is not ours to give.
You go back to the free plan. Nothing is deleted: the current note stays, and so does the history on your phone, though you see the last seven days of it. You are back to three faces, three inks, and the free count for new photos and drawings.
Not yet. There is one price, ₹99 every three months, and it covers both of you. If enough pairs ask for a yearly option we will add one.
Your data
A name, and nothing else. No email, no password, no phone number. The sign-in token and your private key are kept in the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore and are never shown to you or to us.
Crash reports, and nothing else. No analytics SDK, no advertising identifiers, no third party watching what you send.
Nothing here answers it
One of the two of us reads every email, usually the same day. There is no ticket number and no chatbot in the way.
